When choosing an implant dentist in Leicester, ask about their specific implant training and qualifications, how many implant cases they’ve placed, whether bone grafting is included in their quoted price, what happens if something goes wrong, and whether they show you real case results. The answers reveal far more than a headline price.
1. What implant-specific training do they have — beyond general dentistry?
Every dentist can technically place implants after a short course, but implant dentistry is a specialism. Ask whether your dentist holds postgraduate qualifications specifically in implant dentistry — a diploma, master’s degree, or membership of a body like the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI). At Hallcross, our lead implant dentist holds a Master’s Degree in Implant Dentistry and is a member of the ADI, BACD and ITI.
2. How many implant cases have they actually placed?
Experience matters in surgery. Ask directly how long they’ve been placing implants and roughly how many cases they’ve completed — a dentist who’s treated thousands of patients over 20+ years will have encountered and managed most complications that can arise, which matters far more than it might seem when something doesn’t go entirely to plan.
3. Is bone grafting included in the quoted price, or an extra?
This is one of the most common ways implant quotes escalate after treatment starts. Ask explicitly: if a minor graft is needed during surgery to optimise the result, is that already covered, or will it be billed separately? At Hallcross, minor grafting during single-implant surgery is built into our quoted price — you’re told about it in advance if a more significant graft is required beforehand.
4. What aftercare and support is included?
Ask what happens after surgery — is there a direct line to contact your implant team if you have concerns, and are follow-up hygiene appointments included or charged separately? Ongoing care is what keeps implants lasting for decades rather than years.
5. Can they show you real results from similar cases?
A dentist confident in their work should be able to show you before-and-after photos or case examples similar to what you need, not just marketing images.
6. Do they offer a genuine consultation and CT scan before quoting a fixed price?
A responsible implant dentist won’t give you a final price over the phone. A proper assessment — including a CT scan to check bone volume — should come before any fixed quote, so the figure you’re given is one that won’t change.
7. What happens if an implant fails or needs attention later?
Ask what guarantee or aftercare policy applies if an implant needs adjustment or, rarely, fails. A dentist with a clear, honest answer to this — rather than an evasive one — is one you can trust with a treatment that’s meant to last a lifetime.
